goodbyes

An old friend of the family made this music video in memory of my mother and just sent it to me. Frank DeLaMarre is a singer songwriter who wrote this song after John Denver passed away. Thank you Frank for creating this tribute, it’s beautiful! I think I’m going to take a break from blogging. I seem to have lost my writing/blogging/internet browsing mojo. While writing my blog and sharing my angst helped me get through the dark days of my mom’s long illness and passing, I feel like it’s time for me to step back and spend more time building my photography portfolio, actually doing yoga rather than just talking about it, and perhaps trying to rediscover my books and love for reading and writing. Thank you all for your support over the years and for showing an interest in my little life, I’ll still be around and checking in on your blogs from time to time, have a happy and healthy 2010!

The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, or anticipate troubles but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly. ~Buddha

birdsong

I love stumbling across this kind of stuff on the internet, enjoy!

Jarbas Agnelli explaining his video – Reading a newspaper, I saw a picture of birds on the electric wires. I cut out the photo and decided to make a song, using the exact location of the birds as notes (no Photoshop edit). I knew it wasn’t the most original idea in the universe. I was just curious to hear what melody the birds were creating. I sent the music to the photographer, Paulo Pinto, who I Googled on the internet. He told his editor, who told a reporter and the story ended up as an interview in the very same newspaper. Here I’ve posted a short video made with the photo, the music and the score (composed by the birds). Music made with Logic. Video made with After Effects.

Thinking about my mom a lot this week as I celebrate my fiftieth birthday today and approach the first anniversary of her passing at the end of the month. Love Josh Groban’s voice and this beautiful song has certainly taken on new meaning for me, enjoy!

July 4th

This year our family 4th of July get-together today takes on new meaning because next week my nephew is going to Iraq. That’s Charlie the Marine in the photo with my dad, who is a proud Air Force veteran. I’ve always loved this holiday weekend because it really makes me stop and think about what an extraordinary country we live in. We proudly fly our American flag every day, not only to honor our country, but also to remember the men and women who have served in military conflicts. Lee Greenwood’s song, God Bless the USA, is a classic that still brings a tear to my eyes…Happy 4th everyone!

My husband asked me what flying dreams mean yesterday. I told him I always thought they were confident, hope filled dreams. In his dream he was flying with ease, turning and soaring through the air while holding something up with his hands (he couldn’t remember what it was). Strangely enough, I had just run across this flying video on YouTube the day before his dream when a Twitter friend posted a link to a similar one and I saved it for a future post. I haven’t had a flying dream in a long time myself and I told him that I hoped it was me he was holding in his hands. Mr. bookbabie may not be Superman, but he’s been my best friend for thirty years and I’d go flying with him any old time!

The air up there in the clouds is very pure and fine, bracing and delicious.  And why shouldn’t it be? – it is the same the angels breathe. ~Mark Twain
