Okay, its kind of been serious around here lately, time to lighten things up! The New York Zoos and Aquarium has a fun website for kids and silly adults where you can build your own wild self. That’s me above, I have antennae so I can get me a better sense of what makes people tick, sticky froggy arms so I can hang on to the people and things I love, Tiger feet so I can stand strong and have more courage, and butterfly wings so I can fly away just in case all those other magic parts don’t work! Go build your own beautiful wild selves here! And then check out other Illustration Friday “vanity” entrants here…have a great weekend everyone:)

friday fun
I haven’t posted any generators for a while and since life can’t be all whine and no play, here’s a few online image gadgets for you to check out. The MP Change website is really wild (Clooney in the afro). You upload a photo (simple straight on portraits work best) and it animates it and then you can add wigs, hats, and facial hair. Unfortunately, you can’t save the actual moving picture, but it’s still a lot of fun! Just click on the pics and go make your own:)
color my world
I love this generator! You choose colors and it mines photos from flickr with those colors and puts them together in a collage. It’s not just fun, but actually useful. Say you are planning to redecorate a room or paint a picture, but aren’t sure about a color scheme, you can use it to help visualize your finished project. Very cool website, check it out here🙂
“breezy” wordless wednesday
The website Illustration Friday gives people a topic every week and you illustrate it using any medium. It’s designed to jump start creativity at any and all skill levels. I started doing it because I was in a long term creative funk and it really helped get those juices flowing again. As my mom got sicker, and I got busier with my iStock photography, I stopped participating. Yesterday I felt like doing something just for fun and did another George collage. I’ve done a whole series about you-know-who on my Tales of George blog. Okay, no more words, this is Wordless Wednesday afterall 🙂
cuppa cuppa java
I’ve been working on book three a lot lately, hoping to make the deadline for the 2009 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award competition. Last year with my mom so sick and the kids losing the baby, needless to say, my head was not in a good place and my writing was put on the back burner. I’ve decided to use the contest deadline (and lots of coffee) as motivation to get serious about finishing my third novel. I’m not sure if I’ll start another one after this one (I may be too busy babysitting later this year), only time will tell. Click on the picture to test your own caffeine “level”:)
weekend playdate
If you happen to be a jigsaw puzzle fanatic there are some great websites you may want to visit and bookmark. JigZone has a ton of online puzzles. You choose a picture, like the Vincent van Gogh painting above, select the difficulty level and then left click on the pieces to move them into place. They even have an Auto Solve button for lazy people like me! Click here to work a neat moving puzzle, and at Jigsaw Planet and Photograph Puzzle Maker you can quickly and easily create your own puzzle from a photograph that you upload from your computer. Even if you don’t do puzzles in “real” time, these online puzzle sites are a lot of fun!
There are no extra pieces in the universe. Everyone is here because he or she has a place to fill, and every piece must fit itself into the big jigsaw puzzle. Deepak Chopra
