Everytime I think I’ve seen all the cool on-line generators, I come across another one. Kelly on My Utopia blogged this fun word generator last week. All you do is type in a word and it mines photos from flickr and spells it out (kinda like my other favorite, the Mosaic Generator). Click on my custom “bookbabie” above and go try it out for yourself!
fleur blanche

I wandered into the garden today and took some photographs of my flowers. This is Monsieur Clematis Henryi, isn’t he a handsome fellow?
colors to go

Do you have a photograph or painting that you love? If you’d like to copy the color palette so that you can 1) paint your living room to match 2) create a digital drawing or 3) design a web page color scheme around it, then the Color Palette Generator is the tool for you. You upload a photo and get a simple break down of the color palette, complete with HTML color codes. It’s easy breezy to use and fun, even if you have no plans to bust out a paint brush in the near future!
remembering dad
This is a photo of my daughter Lizzi and my father-in-law, Hank. I took out the background and color in Photoshop and I used the oily blender in Corel Painter to give it a brush stroked effect. Lizzi is twenty-four now and Hank passed away seven years ago. I still think of him often, and I will miss him and remember him fondly today. Happy Father’s Day all.
mulholland murder
I gave myself the day off yesterday and indulged in a little escapist summer reading. Michael Connelly’s, The Overlook, is a classic who dunnit murder mystery. The 13th in the series featuring Harry Bosch takes us to a scenic overlook on Mulholland Drive where a physicist with access to radioactive cesium is found shot execution style. The Overlook is a compact 225 pages packed with just enough character development and a solid fast moving plot to make it the perfect book to tuck under your arm when heading off to the beach.
butterfly art
I know I’ve blogged it before, and I’m sure I’ll blog it again, but I love the image mosaic generator. You upload one of your own photos and it gathers images from flickr and turns it into a mosaic. How cool is that? If you click on my butterfly you can see the tiny photos that form the image. I used it to make the background for my twitter account too, click here if you want to check it out. Okay, enough said, go and make one yourself!
wacom portrait
I’ve been playing with my new Wacom pen and tablet. I took a photo of my daughter Lizzi and “painted” over it in Corel Painter. Fastest portrait I ever painted! There’s no substitute for the real thing, the smell of the paint and the way it feels in the brush, but I have to admit, this was pretty fun and there’s no clean up! If you click on the image you can view a close-up of the piece and see the brush strokes. There’s so much to learn that it’s a little overwhemling, maybe I should take a class?
a summer gift

One of the things I like best about summer is the smell of the honeysuckle vines I have growing next to the backyard gate. In the evening, when the air outside begins to cool, the night breeze gathers the sweetness of the little yellow flowers and carries it into the house through an open window, laying it before me…the perfect summer gift.
