Doug and I went to the U of M Matthaei Botanical Gardens in search of butterfly pics on Saturday. We had a pleasant walk and saw lots of beautiful flowers, but the photo above was actually taken in our own garden after we got home!

Wow, so pretty!
Thanks Carrie, that happened last time we went in search of butterflies too, I guess we should just stay home and wait for them to come to us!
Whoops – my previous comment disappeared so hope it didn’t go through (I wasn’t finished…) Your photo reminds me of an antique post card. The Swallowtail is gorgeous.
Great composition and framing effect. Well done.
So pretty! I haven’t seen many butterflies this year ~ but we have lots of dragonflies!
What a beauty! I think it’s a western swallowtail. We see them around here sometimes.
How incredible to go to a place where you expect to see magic, and then finding the best right in your own backyard! Stunning photo!
Yep Snowcatcher, one of those little life lessons!
Absolutely lovely!
